Paragon Energy Networks was appointed as the ICP to deliver a high-voltage grid connection for a solar farm with battery storage in Inverness. The scope included full design and build of a 33kV substation, DNO interface coordination, and energisation of the site for export to the local network.
Full 33kV substation design and installation
Civil works including foundation, fencing, and access roads
Switchgear and transformer installation
Grid connection coordination with SSEN
Final testing, commissioning, and energisation
Remote location with limited access and infrastructure
Strict planning and environmental constraints
Close coordination with SSEN for connection compliance
We utilized modular substation construction and scheduled phased deliveries to address rural access issues. Environmental specialists ensured full compliance with local planning regulations, while our DNO liaison team secured early-stage technical acceptance from SSEN.
